I hate to say this but if Hellebuyck can play like he has lately instead of early in the season, Jets could definitely make it to the final.

From there they'll have to lose to the Leafs though

I agree so much of their success lies between the pipes. What's funny is that the top skill guys are the weakest in possession thus they need some work.

Expect a trade for a depth Centre and perhaps a defensemen as we get closer to trade deadline. Two with playoff experience.

Can't trade Buff until you have Trouba signed.

bennythehat - AMEN ... we can trade one of Troubs, Byf, or Myers ... losing two would not be acceptable
.
Byf's playoff experience was on wing, BTW ... just saying'
.
Feb & March are heavy schedules ... nice thing about Feb is 10 of 12 at home ... still thinking this was a great time for the bye week ... 1st and 3rd line centres out ... grinding winger out ... 2 Dmen just back ... etc

What value does this analysis have given that it was performed more than a week ago in a very fast-paced league?

By many of the metrics you used, the flames are the better team, even more so when you take into consideration the last week of play...

Guess we'll see on Saturday.

Evander Kane to Winnipeg for a pick and prospect. Initially Jets fans are up in arms about the deal, than Kane magically turns it around and becomes a fantastic team mate. Byfuglien invites him out for fishing and buys him a new track suit. Wheeler gives Kane an endorsement and Jets fans warm up to Kane. Kane becomes a warrior in the playoffs leading the Jets to the Stanley Cup with Scheifele, Laine and Ehlers. Kane Along the way gets 24 points in 25 playoff games and wins the Conn Smythe. Kane dedicates the award to his former teammate Zach Bogosian. The story ends with the greatest redemption story ever. In 5 years there is a 30 for 30 documentary made about it on ESPN.

And then someone KO’s him during the cup celebration by cracking him over the head with the cup, bar fight style. You know what I’m talking about. But yeah, your thing would make a great story.

A very well spun tale!! I can't say I have not thought about Kane back in a Jets uni, then I snap out of it! He does some good things and not so good, yaps too much after bad penalties, works hard every shift, misses the net after tearing down the wing, shows up in track suits,......................... It was fun, wish him well.

I liked his work ethic to be honest, playing with the edge that he did is actually my kind of player. Little too much drama tho. Maybe too big of a fish for small dark cold market like Wpg!!

Evander is a "Kanecer". Watch, as soon as he is traded from Buffalo, the Sabres will start playing better.

I’m thinking the Jets may be a little more aggressive then we think.
A first rd pick SHOULD be in play, and we need to look at C and maybe LHD?
Would love to see a move for Derek Stephan or Broussard in Ottawa.
Scheifele, Stephan, Little, Lowry is an elite group of 4.
Copp , Hendricks can play wing easily.
I hope we don’t stand pat.

I agree we do need an impact centre as Frank Servelli on TSN also stated. I am not sold on Stephan. I would be very intrigued by Brassard or even Galchenyuk.

I think we have 4 centers already> Shief's Lit's Lowrey Wheel's
we could use a LH D though

If PoMo is ready to use Wheels at center more permanantly then we could/should be looking for a winger to replace him. Same criteria as search for center - a proven performer with deep playoff experience.

I like Wheels staying at the wing, however, it is a nice luxury to be able to move him to center for injury replacement or line shuffle. Dominating centre ice is a common feature for strong playoff teams. See Pittsburg, SanJose, Anaheim, Chicago, LA as recent examples. What the Jets have is very very good but can't really call them dominant.

What are the chances that Jordan Staal is available? 1/2 way in to a 10 year deal at 6/year, new ownership in Carolina, history of trades between Chevy and Canes, a team on the rebuild in Carolina? Just hoping...

I’d be ok with Jordan Stall, big term to take on so may not be crazy expensive if the desire is there to move him, I doubt it is but only takes a phone call.
I still like the idea of sending our first to Philly for Wayne Simmonds. In that scenario Wheeler could stay at C perhaps? Simmonds only helps your PP and has a lot of grit

So Simmonds for our 1st rd pick and probably a prospect

Ehlers- Scheifele- Laine
Connor- Wheeler- Simmonds
Perrault- Little - Armia
Copp- Lowry - Tanev

Hendricks
Matthias
Dano

I think I’d like that a playoff lineup

Yes, Stahl woild be another 5 years after this year at 6 mill per. Lots of term and moula. Simmonds is 3.975 cap hit but his salary is 4.75 this year snd 5 next year then UFA. How would that work against Jets cap if he landed here?

I like Simmonds style and play. He is a gritty rightwinger but he's not a center. I like Stahl but the salary and term, ouch! But I like Simmonds, he is a heck of a player in my books.

We DO NOT need another dman. It’s our only real position of strength (wing would be if Maurice allowed it).

If we insist on trading for a center, it would have to be a rental if Little isn’t going the other way. Roslovic should have the 2C job next season.

We have too many NHL wingers as is. My only move at the deadline is for a center on an expiring contract.

My offseason sees Byfuglien, Myers, Lowry, and Mason out the door.

I'd love to see us grab Simmonds...that's the kind of splash the Jets need to push us to a cup win.
Then we would not be destroyed in front of the net by teams like San Jose.
